Willow Whisp by Snowyclaw

This pony is inspired by the magic of the will o' the wisps.
Willow Whisp is a spirit pony - hence the ghostly cutie mark. In being a spirit pony she can change her shape at will, even she doesn't know her true form. Her mane is often transparent, sometimes making her almost invisible to others. Also, Willow is very quiet and shy. Did I mention she's an alicorn?

    I'm going to try doing this... This is going to be my first critique...

    Let's start with the pros! :3

    I would have to start out with the background. The moon is outstanding. The way you put just the right amount of detail in it; it's not too detailed, but it's doesn't have "bland" details. The stars are very interesting. The shading around the moon and stars are amazing!

    Now for the pony part:
    Willow Wisp is very unique. It matches the scenery of the night sky. I think she fits your description with a 10/10. The shading on her is very well fit. The mist-looking-like horn is very magical, the way you made it look like a glowing scepter (in my opinion that's what the glowing looks like). The ghost-like eyes give her a mysterious look and feeling, which I, personally, like!

    Now... For the cons... ಠ_ಠ

    The background looks fine, but if this is night (besides if it's really bright from bellow) I think it should have a little more stars (I can agree the stars are really annoying and a pain for me...). Other than the stars, the background looks to be in the outstanding way it is. The cloud that she's standing on. Is her body supposed to be really bright, like in the day-time kinda clouds? (Sorry if I sounded mean right there! Didn't mean to. D:) I would suggest making the clouds darker at night. Although, I have to say, It does make it stand out a whole bunch.

    Now for the body >:U :

    If the mane is transparent, wouldn't that mean that her body should be showing a little outline? or something? I mean if the mane is transparent in this; shouldn't it have a head? I would suggest to put a darker or lighter outline to show the head, neck, and chest (for this picture). If you get what I mean?
    Take for example of the mane going towards the other side of her body. If the mane is transparent it wouldn't make her neck not there. Right? So I'm saying, try to give the places where the mane is covering her body, make the body more visible. (Sorry about this long discussion of the mane and such. :| I rant a lot.)

    Now for the rating! (1-10 scale 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest)

    Vision: 10/10
    Originality: 9/10
    Technique: 8/10
    Impact: 10/10

      I am fan too, and i'm glad you don't think the show is for little kids.My brother always makes fun of me, saying that mlp is for babies. But its not! I love your picture. It is so magical.

It brings me up when i'm down, it also truly is fun to draw art based of the show. I may be a boy but, I also sometimes find My Little Pony as something good on TV today.

    also, one little thing. The back legs of a pony aren't exactly jointed in the way canines and feline's are. There shouldn't be a tucked in second limb, i can't explain very well, but it makes the back leg joints look dislocated.

    ^-^ otherwise, its very good, i suggest emphasizing shading or doing an opaque-ish cloud near her feet for a more mysterious feel. i do agree with more stars, they help emphasize a bit, but too many isn't very fitting for the mood.

    You are an amazing drawer. I love MLP too, its boss. DO you watch Friendship is Magic, or the older ones? If it's Friendship is Magic, then I suggest making the eyes a little, well, larger, and the ponies a little thinner. Maybe use a reference picture?

    I like how you're showing individuality by expressing your interest and stuff. (Whew! That sentence was quite a mouthful, wasn't it?) I like Cross-Country skiing, and lots of other people don't so I know how you feel. That's not really embarrassing, but there is one one embarrassing thing I do like: pollypocket dolls! I actually use them for telling stories to myself, but I would never tell that to the kids in my class. (Sometimes they can be brutal.)

      She is rather ghostly. Willow is very shy and tends to hide in the background. She's more of a brainstorming for my character and it's my first cartoon attempt. :P

    i have a few pony drawing tips from my sister she is 10 years older(will be turning 21 this year) than me yet we both like mlp and i'ma pre-teen so dont be ashamed to luv it lauren faust really improved it from the original anyway here are my tips : the muzzle you drew is good but female ponys are ussally shorter and sharper and if you havent noticed alicorns ussally have longer horns,on top of that bigger wings too the males have mussles thar are only the slighest bit bulkier than you drew and the males have hooves like a normal horse ussally the mane color but slightly different and shiny and slightly make the ears a hit shorter and wider i hope this helps (my sister is a really great drawer and is very observent she could teach you alot so if you need help ask me and i'll ask her!)
